Before traveling to Chile, you should make sure you are up to date on your primary vaccinations and consider getting the following additional vaccines:
Hepatitis A
A common disease in hot regions, usually spread by contaminated food and water. The vaccine is given in two doses, 6 to 12 months apart, and provides protection for about 25 years.
Typhoid
A bacterial disease spread by contaminated food and water. The vaccine provides protection for about 2 to 3 years.
Tetanus
Usually combined with other diseases, such as polio, diphtheria, and/or pertussis. The vaccine provides protection for about 10 years.
Rabies
A viral infection usually transmitted by the bite, scratch, or lick of an infected animal. Rabies vaccines are available in most of Chile, but you should avoid contact with dogs, bats, and other animals that might be infected.
Hepatitis B
Especially recommended if you plan to visit Chile often or stay for a long time. It is spread by contact with infected blood or body fluid.
You should also make sure you are fully vaccinated against measles with the MMR vaccine.

UK citizens: you don't need a visa to visit Chile from the UK if you're a British passport holder and you're traveling for tourism or business for less than 90 days. When you arrive in Chile, you'll receive a tourist card, also known as a tarjeta de turismo, which is a white A5-sized form. You must present this card when you leave Chile.
You can extend your stay in Chile for an additional 90 days for a fee of US$100, but you can only extend it once.
If you're planning to drive in Chile, you can use your UK photocard driving license for up to three months. If you have a paper license, you may need to update it or get an international driving permit (IDP). You must have your passport and tourist card with you in the vehicle
